There is really no reason to leave the city of Winnipeg, as it bustling with exciting things to see and do, but if you feel like getting out of the city, then there are certainly a lot of choices. Weekend getaways from Winnipeg can entice and excite travellers to a great extent. With provincial and national parks just a couple hours away, it is easy to pack up the tents and hit the road for a weekend. There are literally thousands of acres to explore whether you hike, bike, canoe or drive. The area is blessed with wildlife, including bears, moose, elk, and bison. Head to Churchill on a plane for the weekend to experience the polar bear capital of the world or head south into the United States for a chance to check out the infamous wood chipper from the 1996 film “Fargo.” Take the kids, go for romance, or simply take a solo trek into the wilderness (fully prepared of course). Whichever weekend getaway you choose, they would definitely not disappoint you.
