Make the 7-hour-long drive to the banks of the Holy Ganges to get your adrenalin pumping as you thrash about in a raft atop its frothing rapids. Although you could book yourself into one of the hotels nearby, the best way to do it is by staying at one of the river-side camps. Several rafting camps along the Ganga offer tented accommodation, food and rafting packages—luxury versions are available as well. Camp out by the river at night and start out bright and early by rafting down the 17 km stretch from Shivpuri down to Muni ki Reti. You can even cliff-jump off a mammoth rock enroute.

I've visited Rishikesh, Uttarakhand twice. Whitewater rafting on the Upper Ganges is a blast! For sure. I seek to return to Rishikesh this fall.Read More
