Precious Rongmei likes to tell people that she loves travelling – a lot. If only it's done solo, don't have to pack more than two pairs of clothes, won’t keep her away from her cat for too long, and come with loads of birding and butterfly watching opportunities. She's awkwardly passionate about true crime documentaries, gardening, carpentry and souvenirs. In that order.
The hill station is situated at an elevation of about 2,300 ft above sea level. If you love waking up to misty mornings, Lakkidi is the place for you.

One interesting fact about Lakkidi is that it is a very small hill station and many of its attractions are located within a short distance of each other. While some places may require transportation, this is one holiday that you can easily do on foot. It is possible to cover most parts of Lakkidi on foot, including its hiking trails and local markets.
If you plan to broaden your horizon (and you must) when in Lakkidi, we suggest you take a quick trip to Pookode Lake, located just 3 km from Lakkidi. For avid walkers, this distance isn’t a big one and can be done on foot as well! All you need is the will to walk, love for cardio and a pair of good walking shoes.
You might also want to consider the prehistoric Edakkal Caves, located approximately 40 km from Lakkidi. Visit these caves to see some ancient rock art and inscriptions.
