Café Florian is the oldest café in Venice, and is one of the oldest coffee houses in continuous operation in the whole world. Florian is practically a Venetian institution, and has been serving great coffees, cappuccinos, bellinis, delicious snacks, and afternoon teas, since 1720 in its opulent heritage setting.
Café Florian is a piece of Venetian history, it’s not cheap but it is an iconic Venetian experience and has been patronised by many famous people throughout the ages, most infamously it was the place where Casanova used to court his women. This is probably because it was the only café in Venice that would allow women to enter in those times.
It’s more expensive to sit outside, but then the views of Venice’s most famous and most impressive square are priceless. Be aware that each person is charged an extra 6 Euros if there is a live orchestra playing.
