Caffe del Doge is a coffee roaster and artisanal coffee franchise that was established in Venice in the early 1950s and is a must visit for real coffee afficiandos. This, rather unassuming café is located not far from Rialto Bridge but unlike the cafes in the Piazzo San Marco where the highlight is the location and the views, people come to Caffe del Doge simply for the amazing coffee.
The coffee beans come from all over the world, and are expertly roasted in Venice to produce 3 signature blends – Doge Rosso, Doge Nero, and Doge Blu (decaffeinated) as well as a variety of single-origin coffees that are available to consume or purchase. Buying a bag of these excellent coffee beans to take home makes a nice souvenir.
Caffe del Doge also serves nice pastries and a portion from each sale of the speciality coffees goes to a non-profit organisation called bambini del caffè (Children of Coffee). It helps children who work on coffee plantations worldwide.
