The best time to visit Gastown is late evening when the lights come up and the locale bursts into a torrent of life and colour. I am in the oldest settlement of Vancouver, which is over 200 years old but is now transformed into one of the most hip locality bustling with bars, restaurants and boutiques. You must visit Gastown on an empty stomach. Head on a food trail taking in a slice of history. See the statue of Gassy Jack Deighton the man who gave Gastown its name and set up a saloon here. Watch Maple Square come alive, try different cocktails, enjoy some cheese cake and get awed by the landmark of Gastown―the steam clock!
