Ringed by magnificent hills and verdant surroundings, Fateh Sagar Lake in Udaipur is every photographer’s delight. Originally constructed in 1678 by Maharana Jai Singh, the lake was reconstructed and rechristened Fateh Sagar by Maharana Fateh Singh in 1888, after heavy rains destroyed the dam. Three islands sit within the periphery of the lake, of which the garden island Nehru Park is the largest. The park houses a boat-shaped restaurant and a small zoo for children. Visitors can also hire pedal boats or motor boats from the base of Moti Magri Hill and enjoy scenic rides on the lake.
