You can now fly to Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly!

Bareilly airport is functional now and has started flight operations; with this development, Bareilly becomes the eighth airport to operate in Uttar Pradesh. The other airports that are operational in UP are in Varanasi, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Kanpur, and Hindon. Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri flagged off the first flight from the newly upgraded Bareilly Airport yesterday.

As per the reports, the Bareilly airport has been upgraded for commercial flight operations under UDAN - RCS. Reportedly, the inaugural flight had an all-woman crew.
Regarding this, the Ministry of Civil Aviation tweeted, "With this, Bareilly becomes the 56th airport to be successfully operationalized under UDAN."

It is expected that this will have an impact on the local economy, trade, as well as tourism.
The journey, which earlier took more than 6 hours by road, and around 4 hours by train, can now be completed within an hour.
Further, the aerial connectivity will facilitate travel for tons of visitors, pilgrims, and tourists alike who visit Bareilly for the Ala Hazrat, Nath Nagri, Shah Sharafat Miyan and Khankahe Niyazia and Zari Nagari among others.

Reports have it that as per the regional connectivity scheme, flights between Delhi and Bareilly will operate from March 8, every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
While the departing time from Bareilly will be 9 AM, the flight from Delhi will depart at 10.30 AM.
