Would you relocate to remote Scottish islands for £50000?

Scotland is coming up with a new plan to attract more and more people to live on its far-flung islands. As per the reports, the Scottish government is offering young people and families an incentive of £50000 to stay on, or move to, the islands.

The Islands Bond, which is part of the Scottish Government's National Islands Plan, aims to tackle depopulation, which has been a longstanding problem for many Scottish island communities.
Reportedly, bonds of up to £50000 ($69670) will likely be offered as per the scheme to families or young people as part of the plans. It’s expected that this amount of money would be used to help people buy property, renovate existing buildings, build new homes, or invest in local businesses on islands across Scotland, which have been threatened by depopulation.

Reports have it that the new scheme is currently under consultation phase, in which people from nine island regions, interested parties from across the country and farther, have been invited to fill out the online survey, which will remain accessible until the afternoon of October 24.
Reports suggest if this turns out to be successful, the Islands Bond plan would start in 2022.

Referring to this, Islands Secretary Mairi Gougeon said, “Each of our islands are unique and this consultation will help us understand some of the population challenges across our islands and make sure that we can properly address them."
As per the reports, among the nine island communities that have been listed as part of the consultation phase are Arran, Argyll, Orkney, Lewis and Harris, Skye, Shetland, Barra, and Uist.
