PM Modi loved Egypt and these are the places he explored during his visit

Last week, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a trip to Egypt. Though his visit to Egypt was full of meetings, he did take out time from his busy schedule to explore some prominent ancient attractions in Egypt.

He took to Twitter to describe his Egypt trip as a historic one, and also said that India-Egypt relations will benefit the people of the nations.
Here, a look at the places PM Modi visited during his Egypt trip.

1) Heliopolis War Cemetery, Cairo: Heliopolis Commonwealth War Cemetery is situated in Cairo and is a tribute to Indian soldiers who died in Egypt and Palestine during World War I and World War II. Of the 4000 soldiers buried here, 3727 are Indians.
Taking to Twitter, Modi tweeted, “A tribute to India’s brave soldiers, whose courage will never be forgotten. At the Heliopolis War Memorial, I paid homage to our brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the First World War in Egypt.”

2) Al-Hakim Mosque: Al-Hakim is a historic mosque in Cairo built in the year 1012. The 11-century mosque was restored with the help of India’s Dawoodi Bohra community years later. During his visit, the PM couldn’t help but admire the intricately carved inscriptions on the walls of the mosque.

Modi tweeted, “Honored to visit the historic Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo. It's a profound testament to Egypt's rich heritage and culture.”

3) Pyramids of Giza, Cairo: A visit to Egypt is not complete without witnessing the gorgeous Pyramids of Giza. PM Modi, along with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, toured three pyramids of the 4th-dynasty. These pyramids by the Nile River are one of the prime examples of ancient architecture in the world.

Appreciating the architecture, Modi tweeted, “I thank PM Mostafa Madbouly for accompanying me to the Pyramids. We had a rich discussion on the cultural histories of our nations and how to deepen these linkages in the times to come.”
