West Bengal makes negative RT-PCR report mandatory for unvaccinated flyers

Unvaccinated people planning to air travel to West Bengal will have to carry their COVID-19 negative test report to enter the state. The rule will be applicable on both commercial and non-commercial flights, stated the West Bengal government on Monday.

West Bengal Home Secretary BP Gopalika wrote to Civil Aviation secretary PS Kharola, stating that the rule shall be implemented with immediate effect. Passengers flying to West Bengal will have to either show their full vaccination certificate or produce a negative RT-PCR test report not older than 72 hours of the departure of the flight.Soon after, Kolkata Airport took to Twitter and tweeted:
#TravelAlert:As per latest guidelines of West Bengal Govt, all in bound flight passengers (commercial & non-commercial flight) shall produce at time of boarding either proof of full vaccination or RT-PCR negative test report for test conducted within 72hrs of such flight departure.

According to the health department, Darjeeling and Paschim Medinipur on Monday reported three COVID fatalities, taking the death toll to 12 as overall deaths in the state touched 18,011. On Monday, 3,188,05 people were inoculated in the state.
