West Bengal government orders shutdown of flight services in Kolkata for 7 days in August

No flights will be allowed to operate at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata for 7 days in August 2020, as the entire state of West Bengal will remain shut to check the spread of Coronavirus infection.
Reportedly, the Kolkata airport will remain shut for passenger flight operations on August 5, August 8, August 16, August 17, August 23, August 24 and August 31 according to the lockdown announcement made by the West Bengal state government. All passengers scheduled to board flights on these dates are requested to contact their airlines to know changes in the schedule.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal government has ordered for complete lockdown two times a week till August end. CM Mamata Banerjee shared that the implementation of bi-weekly lockdown in the state is in tune with the opinion of experts. With this decision, the government hopes to keep more check on the multiplication of Coronavirus infections in the state.
Reportedly, government and private offices, public transport, banks and other commercial institutions except essential services providers will stay off from work during the complete lockdown.Bengal is grappling with a gradual and steady increase in the number of COVID-19 fatalities.
