Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi just went under a 15-day lockdown amidst a surge in covid infections. The spread of coronavirus is being reported from the southern Mekong Delta region, and the government quickly went under lockdown. As per reports, the latest lockdown in Hanoi means that there is a ban on public gatherings for more than two people. Moreover, only government offices, essential services, and hospitals are allowed to remain open during this time period.
Vietnam has been greatly affected by the virus in this latest wave. The country has recorded over 83000 new cases, and 335 deaths.
While Hanoi has taken all precautions in order to contain the spread of the virus, a meeting of the National Assembly is going to go ahead as per schedule. The meeting is set to start on Tuesday, and to go on for 12 days. It was originally planned for 17 days. The delegates who are taking part have all been vaccinated, and are being tested for the virus.
