The decision was taken during a meeting of Uttarakhand police, which was chaired by State Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar at police headquarters.
With regard to this, the head of state police added that adequate parking facilities in the two tourist destinations have also been made by the police to brace for New Year celebrations.
The DGP stated that tourists are expected to park their vehicles in the designated facilities apart from following lane driving on hill roads. Additional forces, including CPU and crane units, will also be deployed in these areas, he added. Also, police officers would be deployed in major public places of Dehradun on New Year’s Eve to ensure law and order and proper traffic movement, he informed.
Cops have also prepared a plan to manage the traffic going toward Mussoorie and on Mall road.
And as per the press note released by the office of the superintendent of police (traffic), the police has identified nine places for parking vehicles across the town. and when test places are full, the remaining vehicles will be directed towards Gandhi Chowk and Picture Palace.
Meanwhile, hoteliers have expressed concern stating that at least 50 per cent of the tourists visit Mussoorie without a hotel booking, and the latest development might have an adverse impact on tourism.
