Uttarakhand launches helicopter service on Dehradun-New Tehri-Srinagar-Gauchar route

The Uttarakhand state government has flagged-off a helicopter service on the Dehradun-New Tehri-Srinagar-Gauchar route under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN-RCS) scheme. The news was announced by Hardeep Singh Puri, Aviation Minister, on Twitter, and he also congratulated the people of Uttarakhand after the launch. He expressed joy for the inauguration of new service on the UDAN route along with Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat.

The helicopter service was jointly and virtually launched by Hardeep Singh Puri and CM Trivendra Singh Rawat on July 29. The helicopter routes are to be run by Pawan Hans Limited and low-cost helicopter services can be availed by the people three times a week.

Chief Minister Rawat informed that these helicopter services will be available for three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. According to an official statement released by the CM's office, under the RCS, Dehradun has now been connected with Pantnagar, Pittorgarh, Chinyalisaud and Gauchar.
UDAN- RCS is a regional airport development project of the union government of India, and was launched a couple of years ago. Its objective is to make air travel affordable and easier for people living in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
