Unlock 4 in West Bengal - Lockdown to continue till September 30, metro services to resume

The West Bengal government will continue the ongoing lockdown in the state till September 30 after considering the present scenario.

As of now, Coronavirus has not subsided and infections among the citizens of Kolkata are increasing at a steady rate. Therefore, the bi-weekly lockdown in the state will remain effective till the month. However, news has it that metro train services will start from September 8 in West Bengal. Reportedly, before resuming the metro train operations of 90 trains instead of the 288 in number, the Metro Railway will conduct a series of trials.

Here are the dates of bi-weekly lockdown in West Bengal:

• September 7
• September 11
• September 12

All government and private institutions, shops, banks and marketplaces will stay closed during the bi-weekly lockdown. However, only essential services like grocery, milk shops and medical pharmacies will be allowed to stay open.

Below is a list of things allowed for Unlock 4 in West Bengal

• Open-air theatres are permitted to operate with precautions.
• Metro rail services can restart in a phased manner.

What’s not allowed in Unlock 4?

• Schools, colleges and other educational institutes to stay closed.
• Cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks and theatres remain closed.
• Mass gatherings are prohibited.
