This abandoned Spanish village reappears after lying underwater for 30 years

If reports of climate change are to go by, some of the world’s most favorite landmarks might soon be underwater. However, a Spanish village has a different story to tell. As per the reports, Aceredo, a Spanish village, which was once engulfed by water, has now re-appeared due to extremely low rainfall.

Reports have it that in 1992, dozens of families has to leave their homes in Aceredo to make way for a reservoir. The locals had to shit when a Portuguese hydroelectric plant closed its floodgates, which caused the Limia river to flood the lands and buildings in the surrounding area.
Reportedly, communities in five villages in the Ourense province made all efforts to evade the threat of eviction, but they were not successful in their attempts, and were eventually forced to leave.

Although this spot remained largely hidden for almost three decades, some of the buildings were occasionally visible when the reservoir used to dry up, which happened even recently in 2012 and 2017.
However, in November 2021, the water level in the reservoir plummeted to a new low level, which led the said village to reappear again. While the doorways of the houses seemed filled with mud, stone walls of the buildings seemed to have crumbled away, while the ground was scattered with debris.

Meanwhile, parts of the village still remain strikingly well-preserved, with roads, farmlands, and pathways still visible, along with a water fountain.
And since waters have receded, it has once again become possible again to walk along its streets and take a glimpse into the skeletons of its buildings.
