Thailand’s beach paradise Phuket looks forward to welcome vaccinated tourists

The blissful beauty of Phuket can be experienced once again by travellers, as Thailand has new plans for the popular beach destination. Thailand is trying to attract tourists with an experimental quarantine-free model for Phuket. The extremely popular beach destination in Phuket might once again see tourists returning to its shores. The country that largely depends on tourism went through bad times during the lockdown, but has been relatively successful in handling the coronavirus crisis.
Now officials have announced that international travellers can skip quarantine in Phuket if they have been vaccinated. This new rule will be in place from July 1, as the country makes an attempt to relaunch tourism. Thailand has also ordered five million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, as it is working towards vaccinating its people so as to open the country up for tourism for international travellers.
Also, business groups from the beach destination have proposed to get enough vaccines so as to create herd immunity. This will allow foreigners to come in without fears. Reports suggest that Phuket’s business interests decided to pool their resources to purchase enough vaccines for the island. The group includes the Phuket Chamber of Commerce, and the Phuket Tourist Association.

The Phuket experiment will require foreigners to get two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and a certificate that shows a negative test result. Apart from Phuket, six other destinations (such as Krabi, Pattaya, and Koh Samui) that rely on tourism will also cut down on quarantine time for those who are vaccinated from next month. You will only have to go on quarantine for seven days, and you will also be allowed to go out around the area where your hotel is located.
