Tourists can enjoy free entry to the Taj Mahal on February 27, 28 and March 1. As per the ASI officials, it marks the occasion of 367th Urs of the fifth Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, which will be held in the Taj Mahal on the said three days.
ASI Superintending Archaeologist Dr Rajkumar Patel informed that on February 27 and February 28, visitors will be allowed to enter from 2 pm till sunset, and on March 1, tourists will also get free entry from sunrise till sunset.
Reports have it that security arrangements of the Taj Mahal have also been strengthened due to the three-day Urs of Shah Jahan, and to manage the increase in the number of tourists. Officials in the know-how also added that all tourists will be required to follow the COVID-19 protocol while entering the Taj Mahal for free.
Shakeel Rafiq, a tourist guide added that it’s the only time in a year when visitors are allowed to enter in the basement to see the original graves of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaj.
