Taiwan resumes cruise services amid pandemic, becomes the first country to do so

While other countries are still struggling with lockdown pressure, border shutdowns and a rising number of positive cases, Taiwan has become the first country in the world to restart cruise services. The country is being globally praised for its handling of the Coronavirus crisis and has come to the rescue of travellers by introducing the first island-hopping cruise.

On July 26, the first cruise set off from Keelung Harbour for a four-day voyage to the beautiful islands of Penghu and Matsu. The main aim of this cruise was to let Taiwanese travel domestically and experience the gorgeous natural spaces.The Explorer Dream ship left from the house of the Hong Kong based Genting Cruise Line with all the luxuries from Taiwan's northern Keelung port, giving explorers an opportunity to unwind after a long time. Though this 2023 was supposed to be Taiwan’s Island Hopping Year but given the current situation, the campaign was launched 3 years early. Around 900 holidaymakers are adapting to the latest health measures set by Taiwan.
About 30 island-hopping trips are planned for the Taiwanese over a period of next three months. Special itineraries are being prepared for Kinmen County and Hualien County in Taiwan. Besides, the country is taking all the necessary measures to ensure safety of vacatiners. The Eightfold Prevention and Control Protection measure is designed specially for the cruisers.

The passengers need to maintain social distance when on cruise all the time besides following other safety protocols. In addition to ensuring safety, the cruise is also offering interesting promotional discounts to vacationers such as free entry passed to the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology in Taiwan.
