Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Assam will open its gates to the visitors from October 21, after staying closed from March 2020 in the wake of the ongoing Coronavirus crisis and the monsoon rains.

The announcement to reopen Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve was made by KNP on its Facebook page. It wrote that the national park and tiger reserve will be opened for October 21, 2020. Furthermore, the opening ceremony will start from 11:00 AM onwards in the benign presence of the Chief Minister of Assam.
Kaziranga National Park is situated in Golaghat and Nagaon areas of Assam. There are about 2500 one-horned rhinos in this park which amounts to two-thirds of the global one-horned rhino population. It was acknowledged a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. It was also tagged as a Tiger Reserve in 2006 for its large population of tigers.
