Soon, Lahaul and Spiti will have 407 new homestays!

Lahaul-Spiti is one of the most incredible and loved destinations of Himachal Pradesh, visited by thousands of tourists every year. This stunning destination is home to some ancient monasteries and temples that are absolutely famous for their natural surroundings. In order to promote tourism in the district, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has sanctioned a huge budget for developing 407 homestays in the region.

Inaugurating the projects worth INR 66.5 crore in Lahaul-Spiti, the CM said that sanction have been accorded for opening of 407 homestays in the valley. He further informed that the new homestays will not only help tourists inflow but will also help in generation of new employment opportunities in the region. The Himachal Pradesh government, under Tribal Area Development Programme, has made a budget of INR 136 crore for Lahaul-Spiti district. From this, INR 72 crore will be allotted for the development of Lahaul region and INR 64 crore in Spiti.
The CM said that all this is being done to promote tourism in the region and that the Rohtang Tunnel has opened a new passage in the tourism sector. He said, “Opening of the Atal tunnel has provided all-weather road connectivity to the landlocked hinterland. The influx of tourists to the valley has increased manifold which would help in strengthening the economy of the people”.

Apparently, homestays in such destinations are perfect options. These are equipped with all the facilities and services to make the stay comfortable and memorable for tourists. As per the state tourism department, Shimla district boasts of 433 homestays. Homestays in Kufri, Mashobra, Fagu, Kotkhai and Rohru, are also quite a craze among travellers.
