Missing Indian climber, Anurag Maloo, rescued, but in critical condition

As per the latest news reports coming in, Indian climber Anurag Maloo, who went missing on Monday after falling into a deep crevasse on Nepal’s Mount Annapurna, has been found alive. He was, however, rescued in critical condition by rescuers, his brother added.

Maloo, 34, a resident of Kishangarh in Rajasthan, went missing on Monday at around 6,000 m while he was descending from Camp III. As per the reports, he had set off to scale Mt Annapurna peak and was at Camp III. He was then asked to descend instead, following his deteriorating health condition. But, while coming down, he slipped and fell into a crevasse between Camp III and Camp II, and went missing.
Mingma Sherpa, Chairman of Seven Summit Treks, which conducted the trekking expedition stated that they had launched an extensive search for Malu shortly after he went missing. However, till evening they could not find him, further adding that they will continue their search on Tuesday.

His brother added, “We will have to shift our focus towards the medical side now.”
If reports are to go by, Maloo is on a mission to climb all 14 peaks above 8,000 m, and the seven highest points in all seven continents to create awareness and drive action towards achieving the UN Global Goals.

He has also been awarded REX Karam- Veer Chakra and became the 2041 Antarctic Youth Ambassador from India.
As reported earlier, Indian climbers Baljeet Kaur and Arjun Vajpai were rescued yesterday, while a Northern Irish climber couldn’t be saved, and Shehroze Kashif and Naila Kiani from Pakistan were also rescued.
