As per the reports, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced that his ministry has approved the new Delhi-Dehradun expressway, which will see an investment of INR 13000 cr. As per the Minister, the proposed expressway would have 10 elevated roads, whereas the distance between the two cities will be cut down to just 2.5 hours as compared to 6.5 hours now.
Reportedly, the said expressway will likely be operational in two years from now. The Transport Ministry added that work currently is under progress, and will be the country’s first highway that will feature a 12 km elevated corridor for wildlife protection.
- The said expressway will reduce the distance between the two cities by 20 km, whereas the travel time will reduce to just 2.5 hours from 6.5 hours now. Also, the expressway would allow you to drive at a minimum speed of 100 km/hour.
- The expressway will feature 10 elevated roads, and a 12 km long elevated corridor for protecting wildlife.
- At every 25-30 km on the expressway, there will be amenities available to enhance the experience of the commuters. Closed toll mechanism would be adopted to enable pay toll only to the extent of highway use.
- The expressway will likely provide a boost to tourism in Uttarakhand, which will help improve the economy of the region.
- The entire stretch from Akshardham in Delhi to Dehradun will be divided into four different sections for the implementation of the project.
