A spokesperson of the Sheikhul Alam International Airport, commonly known as Srinagar airport, took to Twitter and tweeted, "We handled 45 arriving flights with 7,824 passengers and 45 departing flights with 7,190 passengers on March 28."
The official further said that the highest figure recorded last time was 13700 passengers a day, and that they now hope to register higher figures in the coming months since it is the beginning of the tourist season in Kashmir.
One of the biggest challenges is managing congestion in the city during the peak season and that the prime concern is to ensure there is no congestion at the airport, said the official.
Sharad Kumar, Director of the airport said that a new building is coming up to accommodate more passengers to help ease congestion.
