As reported earlier in the first nine months of the year, the union territory managed to host 1.62 crore tourists, which was the highest in any year over the past several decades. With regard to this, Director of Tourism Fazl-ul-Haseeb stated that special arrangements have also been made to accommodate the rush this season.
He added that they are also planning to go ahead with two-three roadshows as well as the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) for this month to woo the tourists from different parts of the country to the Kashmir Valley. He also stated that the tourism department is planning to add two scenic destinations to the already list of key attractions for the first time this winter.
The Director added that activities will be conducted in collaboration with Youth Services and Sports to attract the tourists further to the Valley.
Reports have it that the winter carnival, ice city, and other related events are being planned for this winter that will take place at these two new destinations alongside Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
And if the other two destinations remain open this winter, it will boost tourism in the Valley, reports added.
As such, the hoteliers too are hopeful like the government that the valley might witness massive tourist footfall this winter, further adding that at many places they have already announced concessions in rates to lure tourists from outside the valley.
