Maharashtra Tourism to launch ‘Victoria 2.0’ colonial e-carriages

Soon, tourists in Maharashtra will enjoy sitting in ‘Victoria 2.0’ e-carriages. Maharashtra Tourism has decided to introduce these colonial carriages in Mumbai to charm and woo tourists. As per reports, 12 e-carriages will be introduced in the first phase. These will run at Mumbai favorite landmarks including the famous Gateway of India, Marine Drive and Nariman Point.

These battery operated carriages will feature GPS audio guides for the convenience of tourists. Apparently, the carriages are not being introduced for the first time on the Mumbai streets. These used to be a charm here until a few years ago transporting people from one colonial marvel and to another in the city. For booking, Ketan Kadam, Founder/CEO, UBO Ridez Pvt Ltd, said, “We are encouraging E-wallet payments through all popular E-wallet platforms. As for the bookings, we are also tying up with multiple platforms such as Khaki Tours, Bookmyshow and our own Facebook and Instagram pages.”
The best thing about these lithium-ion battery run carriages is that these are completely eco-friendly and won’t pollute the city. The carriages will be equipped with a GPS Intelligent Proximity Triggering software for multilingual commentary and will have capacity to seat six people.

As far as timing is concerned, these will be available from 4 PM to 2 AM in the morning. A proper sanitisation stand will be made for the e-carriages where the vehicles will be cleaned after each ride. Also COVID-19 still exists, so people are required to wear a mask on board as per the health protocols.
