Lahaul Valley and others areas in Himachal Pradesh receive first snowfall of winter

On Sunday night, the Lahaul Valley of Himachal Pradesh received its first snow of the winter season. According to reports, temperature went down to zero degrees Celsius in the valley, following the snowfall.
In Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, the minimum temperature dipped to minus on degree Celsius between the night of Sunday and Monday as per the meteorological centre at Shimla.
Reportedly, a local from Sissu told a news daily that the snowfall continued for the whole night and day in the region. While the snow melted in lower areas of the Lahaul Valley, it remained frozen on the mountain peaks. At the same time, it also snowed for one millimetre in Manali and Kullu.
On the other hand, the Sach Pass in Chamba received snowfall on Friday, which resulted in the suspension of the bus service from Chamba to Pangi valley.
As per the weathermen, minimum temperatures in Himachal Pradesh were a degree or two below normal on the night of October 26. In Kinnaur’s Kalpa, the minimum temperature was recorded at 2.7 degree Celsius and 4.2 degree Celsius in Manali. The temperature at Sundernagar in Mandi was 7.9 degree Celsius and 11.1 degree Celsius in Shimla.
