Thailand is not opening any time soon. As per the latest reports, Thailand has pushed back its plans to reopen Bangkok and some other major cities to foreign arrivals until November. This move comes in the wake of vaccination rates not meeting the set targets, a senior official in the know how informed. Read less
It was reported earlier that Thailand is planning to reopen and welcome vaccinated travellers without quarantine to major cities like Hua Hin, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, in October to revive the crucial tourism sector of the country.
Referring to this, Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) informed that the said targeted cities have not yet reached the 70 per cent vaccination rates, reason why they have decided to push the date later to November.
Reports have it that till now, around 44 per cent of residents in Bangkok have received both the doses of COVID vaccine; and overall the country has managed to vaccinate 22 per cent of the estimated 72 million people living in the country.
