Kerala: Cinema Tourism Project gets filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s support to boost scenic locations

The Kerala state government has taken an innovative approach to boost its tourism sector. To make this scheme successful, the state will be taking help of noted filmmaker Mani Ratnam. Yes, that is because it would be promoting places that featured in hit movies in a move to lure more tourists from across the country.

Referring to this, the Kerala Tourism Department has also announced details of the initiative in a release in which it added that Mani Ratnam has extended his support to the government's innovative Cinema Tourism Project.
As per the reports, the idea behind the project is to showcase the prime locations in different parts of the state, which have featured in popular movies. During a meeting with State Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas, Mani Ratnam added that he would help to endorse locations that left a deep impression in people's mind after getting featured in box office hits.

If things go as planned, the project would be launched as part of a show to be held at the Bekal Fort in Kasaragod district, where exciting scenes of his film Bombay were shot. Apart from the award-winning director, actors of the movie will also likely attend the programme to rev up the project.

Through the Cinema Tourism initiative, Kerala aims to bring tourists to nostalgic locations that were closely identified with films, including Roja, Dil Se, and Bombay. Kerala's scenic landscape will be the focus of this esteemed project, whereas the support and presence of Mani Ratnam will provide a big boost to Cinema Tourism.
