Kashmir launches trekking expeditions; popular treks that you shouldn’t miss

Kashmir recently set off a series of interesting trekking expeditions in a move to boost adventure tourism. As per the reports, the selected alpine trails for these expeditions, include the well-known Tarsar Marsar Trek, Kashmir Great Lakes Trek, as well as Gurez and Boadpathri. These expeditions have been launched to offer people an unmatched experience amid the scenic beauty of Kashmir. Referring to this, Kashmir Tourism Department added that these treks will lead to a new thrill for visitors.

Director Raja Yaqoob stressed the significance of adventure tourism to enhance the overall tourist experience in Kashmir. He further added that adventure tourism is their main focus and that they are dedicated to ensure that tourists explore and indulge in thrilling activities while enjoying the natural beauty of Kashmir.

The Director of Tourism further added that as part of the ongoing initiatives, J&K Tourism is actively promoting 75 new trekking routes and that efforts are underway to boost aero adventures, offering visitors a wide range of options to explore the region.

Kashmir Great Lakes Trek
Since the canvas of this trek is so beautiful and is much larger than life, one should try this trek at least once in their lifetime. It’s a moderate to difficult trek that spans over six days, which means it has long trekking days with steep ascents and descents with no easy exit points.

Gurez TrekSet at an altitude of 13,185 ft, you will have to trek 38 km to get there. Plus, the trek is famed for its topography, landscape, weather and more. Even beginners can do this trek. One will get to see the Habba Khatoon Mountain and LOC separating villages of India and Pakistan from the viewpoint above Gurez Valley.

Tarsar Marsar Trek
It’s one of the prettiest treks that you can try in India. This trek will take you right to the heart of Kashmir. From the charming village of Aru to the rolling green mountains of Shekhawas, the setting of Tarsar Marsar is such that you will need to see it to believe it.

Boadpathri
Lesser known, yet a great alpine lake trek of Kashmir, Boadpathri is unique for its scenic landscape and vast meadows. This trek will take you across the lush carpet of grass and along the alpine lakes, under the majestic peaks of Pir Panjal. The very thought of finding yourself in the middle of the meadows with breathtaking views is enough to inspire you to set off for this trek.
