Kailash Mansarovar road till Lipulekh to be ready by 2024!

It is reported that the strategic road to Lipulekh near the China border for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will be completed by 2024. This move comes as the government pushes for early completion; it is expected that the Border Roads Organisation will speed up the work and complete work earlier than expected.Referring to this, Indian Army’s Engineer in Chief Lt Gen Harpal Singh stated that a large number of stretches have been completed. He also added that they are hoping to complete the work on the road by 2024, which will further allow pilgrims to use vehicles right up to the last point in India.

He added that after the project is completed, it will greatly facilitate the travel of pilgrims. If reports are to go by, the travel time for the pilgrims would come down by almost a week.

Lt Gen also added that the government has been providing all possible support to the project and that heavy-lift helicopters have been used to transport equipment to higher reaches. He informed that there is also a plan to build tunnels on some portions of the route to reduce the time taken to reach the designated spot.
The new route will involve pilgrims travelling up to Pithorgath and then to Lipulekh Pass, which lies on the border with China.

It has to be noted that there is one more route for undertaking the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra, which is through Nathu La in Sikkim and involves around 1500 km road travel in China-controlled territory.
