India’s Indigo and Turkey’s Turkish Airlines have resumed direct flights to the country and expect to welcome Indian tourists in huge numbers this year. Apparently, last year Turkey nearly touched $25 billion revenues last year and recorded a 103 per cent growth in tourism sector since the pandemic broke in 2020. The country was visited by more than 30 million international tourists in 2021 and this year again, Turkey is all ready to make a new record.
Among this huge number, 50000 were Indian tourists only! This is the reason why Turkey is so hopeful of a full recovery in tourism this year, now that people are eager to travel and experience unexplored destinations.
For those who don’t know, Turkey was voted as one of the top destinations for Free Independent Travelers (FIT) and Meeting, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Events (MICE) tourists from across the globe.
