Japan aims at issuing vaccine passport to Japanese travellers from next month

Japan is planning to introduce a vaccine passport for Japanese travellers wanting to travel abroad. The Japanese government made the announcement on Thursday to roll out vaccine passports from next month.

Government spokesman Katsunobu Kato told reporters, "We are preparing to issue a certificate of vaccination for those who need one... when they visit foreign countries."
He further informed that the vaccine certificate will be paper-based and not digital. He said that it will be issued by local governments from next month. Given the present COVID-19 time, most of the countries in the world are planning to introduce their own digital passports to kickstart travel and tourism once again.

The European Union is already working on its digital vaccine passport for summer travel as it is the need of the hour. Every country needs their share of tourists back after getting hit by the pandemic.
The EU version of passport will carry all the information about the person’s COVID-19 journey. Like whether the person had the virus in the past, whether or not the person is vaccinated, tested negative, or recovered.

Similarly, America too is planning to come up with such special documentation for vaccinated Americans who wish to travel abroad. However, the idea has not yet taken a complete shape in some parts of the country including US states like Florida and Texas.
But Japan is all up for a vaccine document that will help the country to reestablish tourism business. Presently, Japan’s six percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
