Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered an investigation into the violent clashes that have shaken the nation. "In view of the ongoing situation in Bangladesh, the Indian community members and the Indian students residing in Bangladesh are advised to avoid travel and minimise their movement outside their living premises," stated the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh. The embassy has also provided 24-hour emergency contact numbers for Indian missions in case urgent assistance is needed.

In an address to the nation on Wednesday, Prime Minister Hasina expressed her regret over the casualties resulting from the violence and announced the formation of a judicial inquiry committee. She urged the demonstrators to place their trust in the country's Supreme Court, as the issue is currently pending there. "I believe our students will get justice (in the apex court). They will not be disappointed," Hasina reassured the nation.
The student movement has called for widespread participation from students of all educational institutions and has sought the support of guardians for their cause. In response to the protests and to maintain order, authorities have deployed paramilitary Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops in four major cities. Additionally, hundreds of policemen in riot gear have been dispatched to public university campuses across the country to control the situation.
