Mumbai get its first ‘restaurant on wheels’ at CSMT

Mumbai just got its first restaurant on wheels! As per the reports, Indian Railways’ Central Railway (CR) has now set up a 'Restaurant on Wheels' in Mumbai at the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). Referring to this, an official in the know added that this initiative will offer a unique experience to diners inside the coach that is mounted on rails.

As per the release issued by the CR, this restaurant has been built using a discarded rail coach, which will likely become a landmark eating house in this area.
Shivaji Sutar, Central Railways’ Chief PRO, stated, "The restaurant will be a fine-dining place offering a unique experience to diners and will accommodate 40 patrons inside the coach with 10 tables. The interior of the restaurant has been decorated in such a way that passengers, as well as the public, can enjoy the experience of dining in a rail-themed setting."

Reports have it that the 'Restaurant on Wheels' has been set up under the ‘Innovative Ideas’ catering policy. The place boasts of ample space, and will feature cuisines from various regions in India. Sutar added that the restaurant will be open for the general public, as well as general passengers.
Sutar further added that the Central Railways is planning to explore the possibility of opening similar restaurants at Kalyan, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Neral, Igatpuri, and Lonavala.
