In Kerala, the weather situation remains critical following severe rainfall that recently impacted the Wayanad district, claiming over 167 lives. The IMD has warned of continued rainfall in the state until August 4, prompting heightened alertness among residents and authorities. The coastal and hilly regions, particularly vulnerable to landslides and flooding, are on high alert.
The IMD has also predicted extremely heavy rainfall in several parts of West and Central India. Madhya Pradesh is expected to experience intense rain on August 1-2, Maharashtra until August 3, and Goa on August 2-3. The forecast includes severe rainfall at isolated places across Konkan coast, Goa, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, West Madhya Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Saurashtra region in Gujarat.

The southern peninsular region is not spared either. Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Mahe, and North Interior Karnataka are all on alert for heavy rain. The IMD has warned of severe rainfall at isolated places, particularly in Coastal Karnataka on August 1-2 and South Interior Karnataka until August 2. Kerala and Mahe are also expected to experience significant rainfall on August 1-2, with North Interior Karnataka facing similar conditions.
