Apparently, the violence broke on Thursday evening following the demolition of a madrasa and mosque which forced the district administration to impose a city-wide curfew in Haldwani. Police have also orders for shoot-at-sight against rioters. Internet services are also shut down in the region. It’s advisable not to travel to Haldwani because of the curfew and ongoing-violence.
