In the past one day, a number of mishaps have been reported in the city including tree fall, house collapse and short-circuits. Severe water logging has occurred in the low-lying regions and a number of slums and shops have been flooded.
Since Monday, Mumbai and suburbs have received more than 200 mm rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall for Mumbai. The department has also issued flash flood guidance for several regions including Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal Karnataka and some parts of Gujarat.
The red alert in Maharashtra has been issued for the second consecutive day because of massive rains in Mumbai and nearby districts. The alert is issued for Mumbai, Pune, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Nashik and Ahmednagar.
Besides, Kerala too is battling heavy rains and IMD has issued Yellow Alert in Wayanad, Malappuram, Kasaragod, Kannur and Kozhikode from August 4 to 8. In some districts of Kerala, Orange Alert is issued for the whole week.
