The Chief Minister also confirmed that these strategically identified heliports are set to become part of the ambitious UDAN Scheme, aimed at improving air travel options.
The introduction of helicopter sorties under the UDAN Scheme is expected to provide a more affordable and convenient mode of transportation for the residents of these remote regions. Additionally, the Minister is confident that this initiative will likely boost tourism activities in the region, by making these locations more accessible to both local and visiting tourists.
He further added that the government's priority is not only to promote Himachal Pradesh as a prominent tourist destination but also to create employment and self-employment opportunities for the local youth. The commitment to developing tourism infrastructure, attracting high-end tourists, and enhancing air connectivity in the state is evident through ongoing efforts.

Construction of heliports at district headquarters is in progress, and the expansion of Kangra airport is in the pipeline to facilitate the operation of A-320 type aircraft. If reports are to go by, these measures are aimed at establishing Kangra as the tourism capital of the state.
