Himachal Pradesh all set to ‘e-connect’ temples to boost religious tourism

As Himachal Pradesh is fast becoming a pilgrimage site, and is luring thousands of devotees to its shakti peethas, the state government has introduced an initiative to e-connect its major temples. This move comes in the wake of ensuring convenience for devotees who are unable to visit in person.

As per the news reports, starting with the famous Mata Chintpurni temple in Una district, the government has now initiated a pilot project to facilitate online bookings for havan, bhandara, and jagran ceremonies in these temples and shakti peethas.
Reports have it that the development of software for this purpose is already underway, and once the pilot project is successfully implemented, the e-connectivity service will be extended to other prominent temples across the state.

Also recognising the vast potential for adventure, medical, and religious tourism, the state government has taken innovative measures to cater to the needs of the pilgrims and promote tourism.
As per the state government officials, through this digital platform, pilgrims will be able to connect with the temple priests, make online payments, or book slots for rituals. The said software will also provide devotees with auspicious timings for performing special pujas, which would facilitate their spiritual experience.

They added that recognizing the importance of infrastructure in enhancing the pilgrim experience, the government is also focusing on the development of key temples, such as the Baba Balak Nath temple, which is located in Hamirpur district, and is also famed as Diyotsiddha. This temple is located in a natural cave atop a hill in Chakmoh village, and holds immense significance.
In short, e-connectivity will bring temples closer to devotees, and will also boost religious tourism.
