Goa’s new interactive museum opens in an ex-prison

Goa has become home to an interactive museum that was inaugurated recently in a decommissioned Aguada Central Jail. The new museum, known as Aguad Interactive Museum: Goa – The Land, The Struggle, The People, is spread across three prison cells and each displays various aspects of Goa.

The Aguada Central Jail belongs to the year 1612! During the inauguration, Tourism Minister of Goa Rohan Khaunte talked about how the museum will add to the travellers’ experiences. The museum will enhance their understanding of Goa’s culture, history and evolution.

Not only this, the museum also focuses on the importance of responsible tourism and proves to be educational for tourists. This new museum is a must-visit for history and museum lovers.
About the museum
The museum has three divisions:

The room number one is known as Goa-The Land, where visitors can explore Goa's important attractions through an interactive 3D map. The Discover Goa console allows people to check out the state’s lesser-known facts. There’s also a unique Story Vending Machine that tells tales from the past in the form of short stories.



The room number two is called Goa-The Struggle, where visitors can get more information about Goa's freedom. The Time Machine game here offers in-depth detail about important dates and events in history. With the Freedom Fighters Wall, visitors can witness the tales of those who led Goa to freedom. The Message In A Bottle allows people to know their thoughts more intimately.

The last room number three is Goa-The People, where there’s a kiosk Once Upon A Time. Here visitors can explore prehistoric findings of Goa. Then there’s another kiosk Goa 2035 which allows people to understand Goa's cultural vision via holographic installation.


This interactive museum is surely going to add to the visitor’s experience while educating them about Goa’s rich past and culture.
