Goa: Tourists riding cars and two wheelers on beaches will be booked

Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar announced that tourists found riding cars and two wheelers on Goa's beaches will be booked. This move comes after a video of tourists riding scooters on a public beach went viral on social media.

While talking to the reporters at the state Secretariat he stated that those who drive vehicles on the beaches will be punished, and that the police should file a case against them.As per the reports, a video showing a group of tourists riding several scooters along an unidentified beach in Goa went viral. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took this matter seriously and warned of strict action against such misdemeanours by tourists. He added, “They should follow the law of the land. Again and again we have requested tourists (against such misdemeanours). If they do not listen we will have to take strict action."
There were reports earlier this month too when a 25-year-old tourist was arrested and later released on bail after he tried to drive his rented car along Morjim beach, and then got his car stuck in the wet sand.

Recently, the Goa state government allowed re-opening of one of Goa's biggest tourist draws, i.e., onshore and offshore casinos with 50 per cent capacity. Further, as Goa opened up for tourism again after the devastating second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that hotels will allow only those visitors to stay, who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
