Goa: Select beaches to be made accessible for specially abled travellers

If all goes as planned, Goa will soon have beaches that will be accessible for the specially abled travellers. Referring to this, Minister for Tourism Rohan Khaunte added that the government is working toward and making plans to make select beaches in the state for the same.

He added that they are working with the belief that beaches are for all, and to make this easy for them, ramps will be provided for disabled/physically challenged people at select beaches. Mr Khaunte added this while he was replying to the government’s plans for providing infrastructural facilities on the beaches.The Minister also added that mechanical/semi-mechanised cleaning machines will be deployed to make sure that beaches are cleaned more efficiently and in a speedy manner. He also added that road sweeping machines will be deployed to keep the roads clean.
Revealing more about the plans, he stated surveillance systems, CCTV cameras will also be installed at beach entries and parking areas to ensure law enforcement agencies are able to assist people and also maintain law and order in these places.

It is likely that this development will change the outlook of people with disabilities towards Goa. Until now, this popular beach destination has mostly been looked at as for the young crowd but, in the near future, Goa will be a destination favoured by the specially abled too, and they will also book tickets to visit the state and enjoy their holiday.
