Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the light and sound show at Sarnath’s Dhamekh Stupa. The tourism department has spend INR 7.99 crore on this project entire project which aims to attract more number of visitors, earn better revenue and also spread awareness about the heritage sites related to Buddha’s life. Keertiman Srivastava, the regional tourism officer, told a leading newspaper that the light and sound show has been conceptualised to tell the story of Gautam Buddha’s life and his teachings. Sarnath is the place where Buddha had delivered his first sermon after attaining enlightenment.
Sarnath is located 10 km from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. A lot of people who visit Varanasi or Kashi prefer making a short trip to Sarnath as well.
