Tourists and general public has been urged to refrain from all unncessary travel on the route. The said road will stay closed for all vehicular traffic over the winter till the summers; the same has been pushed into effect earlier this week.
Uttarakhand's upper reaches, including the Kedarnath Temple, also witnessed snowfall this week. It is one of the famous four temples, comprising of the Char Dham in the state. Yesterday, Gangotri Temple, one of the four temples, was also shut for public. A number of rituals took place for the same, with the presiding deity, Ganga, moved to the village of Mukhwa. Devotees can offer prayers to the deity in the village itself. Gates to the Yamunotri Temple were also shut for general public today, as the winter season approaches.
