From 2023, tourists will reach Katra from Delhi in 6 hours via Express Road Corridor

Soon, the time taken to reach Katra from Delhi will be cut down to only 6.5 hours. According to the latest reports, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh made an announcement about constructing the Katra-Delhi Express Road Corridor to make it possible.
Reportedly, the minister also stated that work has begun on the Katra- Delhi Express Road Corridor. The work shall be completed within three years, that is, by the year 2023.
As per the reports, once the expressway becomes functional, people will get a good reason to travel to and from Delhi and Jammu via road instead of train or air.
The points to know about the upcoming Katra- Delhi Express Road Corridor are:

• The USP of this road corridor is that it will link the pilgrimage cities of Katra and Amritsar.
• The Katra- Delhi Express Road Corridor will also offer connectivity for some other major important religious shrines between the two destinations.
• Dr Jitendra Singh has estimated the cost of Katra- Delhi Express Road Corridor to be more than INR 35000 crores.
• The Expressway Corridor will pass through destinations including Jammu and Kathua in J&K as well as Amritsar, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Ludhiana in Punjab.
• For now, there are a few flights and trains like Rajdhani as well as the Vande Bharat Express running from Delhi to Katra and vice-versa.
