Reportedly, a tour operator also told AFP that a maximum of 10,000 visitors will be allowed to visit the tower in a day. In the pre-COVID times, double the number would visit Eiffel Tower in a day. The cap has been set so as to enable visitors practice social distancing and stay safe.
Currently, the structure is going through a detailed renovation programme, gearing up for the 2024 Olympics. Thus, some parts of its, where renovation is underway, would remain closed to the visitors.
More of a cultural icon, the structure was built between 1887 to 1889. It is as tall as a building spread over 81 storeys and stands tall at 324 m. It is also the most-visited paid monument in the world. It was also the first structure to go over 200 m as well as 300 m in the world.
