Eiffel Tower to reopen on July 16, cap set on number of visitors

Paris' landmark attraction, the Eiffel Tower is all set to reopen on July 16 after months of COVID-driven closure. Visitors can book their tickets from June 1. The official social media handle for the attraction announced the opening of what is hailed as one of the most celebrated landmarks in the world.

Reportedly, all the floors of the tower would be accessible to visitors like before. Reportedly, a tour operator also told AFP that a maximum of 10,000 visitors will be allowed to visit the tower in a day. In the pre-COVID times, double the number would visit Eiffel Tower in a day. The cap has been set so as to enable visitors practice social distancing and stay safe.

Currently, the structure is going through a detailed renovation programme, gearing up for the 2024 Olympics. Thus, some parts of its, where renovation is underway, would remain closed to the visitors.
More of a cultural icon, the structure was built between 1887 to 1889. It is as tall as a building spread over 81 storeys and stands tall at 324 m. It is also the most-visited paid monument in the world. It was also the first structure to go over 200 m as well as 300 m in the world.
