As per the reports, the revised guidelines will come into effect from July 20. Under the new guidelines, the requirement for RT-PCR based testing of a random 2% of travellers entering India will now be dropped.
The Centre’s guidelines further added that any passenger having symptoms of COVID-19 during travel shall be isolated as per standard protocol i.e., the said passenger should be isolated, wear mask, and segregated from other passengers in flight/travel, and shifted to an isolation facility subsequently for follow up treatment.
Further, the protocol that needs to be followed upon the arrival of the passengers will remain largely unchanged. The Ministry has directed airlines to ensure de-boarding with norms of physical distancing in place. Thermal screening of all passengers should be carried out by the health officials present at the point of entry, the ministry added.
The Government also advised travellers to self-monitor their health post arrival and contact their nearest health facility in case they start having symptoms of COVID-19.
For your information, the updated guidelines are available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The release also added that the Health Ministry will continue to follow the COVID-19 scenario closely.
