Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai will soon have a cool viewing deck

Mumbai will soon get another landmark for tourists and locals to spend their leisure hours. It is reported that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has planned to build a viewing deck at Mumbai’s Chaityabhoomi, the cremation site of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
News has it that the viewing deck will be 16 ft high, and will offer visitors stunning sunset views. Estimated to be constructed at a cost of INR 3.61 crore, this project will have features, such as ramps, to give accessibility to specially-abled and senior citizens. An elevated platform will also be built over a non-functioning stormwater drain outfall.
Kiran Dighavkar, Assistant Municipal Commissioner of G-North ward (Dadar) told a leading newspaper that there are many people who climb on the SWD for taking selfies or photos of the Bandra-Worli sea link.
They will strengthen the drain outfall area and make this deck a tourist attraction. The required coastal permits have been taken to complete this project. In addition, electric lamp posts will also be put up on the deck.The project is spread over an area of 1500 sq mt.
